Educational Authorities in Finland
In Finland, the Government and Ministry of Education and Culture is responsible for planning and implementing the education policy. Following are the Educational Authorities in Finland:
Ministry of Education and Culture: The Ministry of Education and Culture is is charge for developing educational, cultural, scientific, youth and sporting policies along with international cooperation in these spheres.
Finnish National Agency For Education: The Finnish National Agency For Education is an authority under the Ministry of Education responsible for administration, management of the education sector.
It is in charge for the development of pre-primary, basic or primary, general upper secondary, vocational upper secondary and adult education in Finland.
Regional State Administrative Agencies (AVIs): The Regional State Administrative Agencies are responsible for the regional tasks of the Ministry of Education and Culture. The AVIs also promote the fulfilment of legal protection of pupils and students and assesses regional and equal access to basic services. The agencies work in close collaboration with local authorities.
Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY): The Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment plan, monitor and develop adult education. Also, ELY Centres are responsible for development of vocational and adult education and matters concerning the financing of the European Social Fund (ESF) projects. They also help to develop upper secondary and higher education with EU project funding.
